Marco Biagi Hall

On Monday, March 8 2010 the new Marco Biagi Hall, named after the famous labour law jurist who died 8 years ago, was inaugurated in the head offices of the newspaper Il Resto del Carlino in Bologna.

In the presence of Marco Biagi's family, Monsignor Ernesto Vecchi blessed the hall in the offices of Il Resto del Carlino, which was destined to host important meetings and debates, especially in 2010, the year in which the newspaper celebrated its 125th anniversary.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Riffeser Monti, Carlino editor-in-chief Pierluigi Visci and assistant editor-in-chief Pierluigi Masini, the Prefect of Bologna Angelo Tranfaglia, the president of the Province Beatrice Draghetti, special city commissioner Anna Maria Cancellieri, chief of police Luigi Merolla and the chancellor of Bologna University, Ivano Dionigi.
Lorenzo Biagi sculpted the plate dedicating the hall to his late father.

In this very location, on March 19, the eighth anniversary of Biagi's assassination, the "Marco Biagi - Il Resto del Carlino for Social Solidarity Award" was presented, supporting and recognising the value of the volunteer work of private non-profit associations working in the Province of Bologna to help the disadvantaged and youth to join the workforce: the type of disadvantaged people Marco Biagi quietly worked to help in his lifetime.

Marco Biagi Hall is the first construction to feature Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ tiles in the colour Crema Marfil Select and the size 60x60, used for the raised flooring.

Fiandre Chairman and CEO Graziano Verdi offered his comments: "Crowning a long series of successes for the company I have the honour of leading, Il Resto del Carlino has honoured us with its preference. To us this is a way of paying homage to the great jurist and contributing to the future of a publication of great importance in the history of Italy".

Speakers at the event also mentioned the "Active Architecture" International Award presented by Fiandre in collaboration with Il Resto del Carlino to encourage and promote environmentally sustainable design featuring Active, the company's latest new innovation.
