  • Underfloor diaphragm
Vertical element separating the floor void into compartments in relation to design requirements calling for insulation or lack of communication between different areas for the purpose of well-being or safety. Its function may therefore be to prevent the transfer of sound (acoustic enclosures) or of fire (fire barriers), or (if the floor void is used for channelling the air-conditioning system) to channel the flow of treated air along pre-established paths, preventing it from being mixed with the untreated air.
  • Underside covering
Functional layer constituting the lower surface of the panel having the purpose of improving its physical characteristics (e.g. mechanical strength) or chemical properties (e.g. protection against the penetration of moisture).
  • Upright
Generic section bar positioned vertically, that may be fixed or mobile. In a ventilated wall, the upright is the main structure, anchored to the load-bearing structure of the building, which supports the cladding.
  • Upright and cross-member construction
Lightweight load-bearing frame of components assembled on site for supporting prefabricated opaque and/or translucent infill panels.
  • Useful quality
Set of characteristics of the technical elements of a building, split up according to their durability requisites
