  • Thermal area of a building
Part of a building in which the indoor temperature will undergo negligible spatial variations, or can be assumed to do so.
  • Thermal bridge
Element or connection enabling the transfer of heat, by contact, between two components having different temperatures. In cladding systems, it has a negative impact since it facilitates the dispersion of heat through elements of the construction that are not properly insulated, especially in winter.
  • Thermal flow coefficient
Relationship between the thermal flows of two temperature zones and the difference in temperature between the two zones.
  • Thermal inertia
Resistance of a material to changing its temperature
  • Thickness
Linear dimension measured perpendicular to the plane of the length and of the width.
  • Top covering
Finishing layer that can be added or otherwise to the panel (if it is not added, it is considered to be built in) and that can consist of: a) A rough surface finish incorporated into the panel and suitable for putting self-laying floors into place; b) A finishing covering incorporated into the panel (and which does not affect the resistance of the panel to loads to any significant extent); c) A finishing covering not incorporated into the panel (e.g. self-laying); d) A finishing covering incorporated into the panel and that contributes towards the resistance of the panel to loads.
  • Transmittance
Quantity of heat given up to the internal environment by a surface area of 1 square metre at constant temperatures and with a difference in temperature of 1 K.
