  • Panel
Horizontal load-bearing component of a raised floor. It is supported by the structure below it (e.g. pedestals and stringers).
  • Panel-type construction
Interconnected pre-assembled modules having a height corresponding to parts of a floor, complete with infill panels.
  • Pedestal
Vertical component or part of the element transmitting the loads to the sub-floor.
  • Permeability to air
The quantity of air that passes through the joints of a system when it is subjected to differential pressure. It is measured in m3/hr.
  • Plug
Element, generally made of a plastic material, in the shape of a parallelepiped or a wedge, used to add thickness. In particular, an expansion plug is a plug that expands when it is tightened after being inserted into a hole made beforehand, so that it withstands efforts to pull it out.
  • Porcelain tile
Tiles obtained by pressing, featuring a very low total porosity and made of a pale mixture that can also be uniformly coloured or mottled by adding powders and granules of different sizes and colours to the mixture.
The composition of the mixture is very similar to that of a pale stoneware, however the raw materials are selected so as to keep the percentage of iron oxide to a minimum. The mixture is pressed, applying specific loads 50% higher than for pale enamelled stoneware.
Firing is carried out using cycles of less than one hour at temperatures in the region of 1200°C. The tiles may also be polished before or after laying so as to enhance their aesthetic qualities. This material is resistant to frost, to acids and to basic substances and has a high mechanical strength.
