Definitions of terms and phrases commonly used in ventilated and raised applications.

  • Finished Floor Height (FFH)
    Nominal vertical dimension from the level of the specified sub-floor to the level of the specified finished floor.
  • Fixing
    Connection of a sub-frame, a fixture or curtain walling to the masonry structure (for further information on this subject see also attachment and anchoring).
  • Flashing
    Section bar, usually a piece of bent sheeting, used to cover and protect window sills and connections between skirtings and walls.
  • Flat component
    Component for which the smallest bending radius is at least five times its thickness.
  • Flatness
    The characteristic of a slab of being flat, that is to say of not deviating from a reference plane by more than the permitted tolerance values.
  • Floor system
    Set of elements that make up a fully installed raised floor.
  • Floor void
    Space available between the underside of the panels of the raised floor and the sub-floor.
